Best of Friends: Sheriff Joe and Vernon Parker

This week, Vernon Parker is trying to hide his tea party roots and appear moderate, but one of his closest friends has been someone who is anything but moderate: extremist Sheriff Joe Arpaio. When Arpaio was being investigated for racial profiling, Parker jumped to his aid, chairing the Committee to Defend Sheriff Joe.

Arpaio has become a national figure by engaging in clown tactics, such as investigating President Obama’s birth certificate. He’s even tried to intimidate judges who insisted on following the law instead of following Sheriff Joe’s radical political agenda. And Vernon Parker has had Sheriff Joe’s back the entire time.
