We always knew this wouldn’t be easy.
Two polls released recently show that Kyrsten Sinema is leading Vernon Parker in our race for Congress. A poll released yesterday shows Sinema with 48 percent to Parker’s 43.
And hot on the tail of that good news comes the chaser: Two out-of-state groups have announced that they will be spending over $1 million on TV ads starting tomorrow. These smear ads question Kyrsten’s character and engage in ugly name-calling.
One of these groups, an Iowa-based outfit that is stocked full of Mitt Romney and George W. Bush operatives, has the same attorney who was behind the 2004 “Swift Boat” attacks that maligned Senator John Kerry, and attacked his service to our country in Viet Nam.
Kyrsten is tough and she has shown that she is not afraid of standing up for what’s right. She showed it when she took on Governor Brewer’s plan to eliminate Kids Care in 2010, and saw that funding was restored to keep Arizona children on health insurance. That is the kind of character we need in Congress–more than ever.
Thank you for your commitment.
