Social Security Privatization
Paul Ryan Supported Privatization: Paul Ryan has been a longtime supporter of privatizing Social Security. Andrei Cherny Supported Social Security Privatization. The California Journal reported in 2002 that “Cherny’s book promoted the privatization of Social Security, a notion praised by the likes of Newt Gingrich.” Investor’s Business Daily reported that Cherny’s book “calls for private accounts.” Cherny also wrote that Social Security is an “antiquated Ponzi scheme.” Despite having written a book in which he advocated for a privatization plan similar to Paul Ryan’s, Cherny now claims to oppose privatization.
