PHOENIX, ARIZ. – TODAY, Danny Ortega announced he is joining local leaders across Arizona in supporting Kyrsten Sinema for Congress in Arizona’s District 9. Ortega is a local Phoenix attorney, a storied human and workers rights activist from Arizona and a national leader in the Latino community. Ortega joins many other community leaders and organizations that have endorsed Sinema, showing an extraordinary outpouring of support.
“Kyrsten is the leader we need to stand up for us in Washington,” said Ortega. “Her record of reaching across the aisle to get the job done, such as her early support for the DREAM act, her opposition to SB1070 and her hard work to defeat all of Russell Pearce’s anti-immigrant bills in 2011 show she is the best leader for CD9.”
Ortega serves on the Board of Directors of National Council of La Raza and the Cesar Chavez Foundation. He has also served on the Board of Directors of the Los Abogados Hispanic Bar Association, Mexican American Legal Defense and Education Fund, Federal Home Loan Bank of San Francisco, Valley of the Sun United Way, Arizona State Alumni Association and Chicanos Por La Causa, Inc.
“I’m grateful for Danny Ortega’s endorsement,” Sinema said. “Arizona families can’t afford to wait while Congress refuses to act on the issues that matter most. I’ll stand up for what’s right in Washington just like I have in Arizona.”
