NATIONAL SENIORS GROUP ENDORSES SINEMA FOR CONGRESS
Phoenix, AZ – The Alliance for Retired Americans has announced its support for Kyrsten Sinema in her race for Congress. The mission of the Alliance for Retired Americans is to ensure social and economic justice and full civil rights for all citizens so that they may enjoy lives of dignity, personal and family fulfillment and security. The Alliance for Retired Americans represents over 4 million retirees and community members across the nation.
In a letter of endorsement from the Alliance for Retired Americans, the group outlines their reasons for supporting Sinema:
Your positions demonstrate a strong commitment to improving the quality of life for older Americans. Your leadership on issues such as preserving Social Security and Medicare from privatization and benefit cuts exhibits that commitment.
“I am honored to have the endorsement of the Alliance for Retired Americans,” said Sinema. “We cannot afford to gamble on our guarantee to seniors — who have worked their entire lives — by throwing our retirement security to the whims of Wall Street.”
Sinema’s opponent, Vernon Parker has come under recent fire for his plans to make drastic changes to Social Security and Medicare. Parker has expressed support for the Ryan Budget which would restructure Medicare into an experimental voucher system and cost seniors an additional $6400 dollars out-of-pocket each year. When asked to be specific about his thoughts on the Ryan plan, Parker told Channel 3 that “the biggest thing” that he supports in Ryan’s budget is his plan on “entitlements.”
