NOW Joins List of Prominent National Women’s Organizations that Support Kyrsten Sinema

August 23rd, 2012

Phoenix, AZ – Today, the National Organization for Women Political Action Committee announced their endorsement of Kyrsten Sinema in her race for Congress in Arizona’s 9th Congressional District. Comprised of hundreds of thousands of members and supporters across the country, NOW’s organizational mission is to promote the welfare and leadership of women as well as to end regressive policies that affect women’s reproductive rights and economic security; and to promote equality and justice in our society. With this announcement, Sinema has garnered the support of the most prominent women’s organizations in the nation. NOW joins groups like EMILY’s List, National Women’s Political Caucus, Women Under Forty Political Action Committee and Women’s Campaign Fund as the organizations that are working for a better, representative government.

“Sinema will bring a fresh voice to Arizona’s all-male Congressional delegation,” said NOW/PAC Chair Terry O’Neill. “She has been one of the most effective legislators in her state, creating and passing policies that help families even in a legislature that seemed hopelessly locked in partisan fights.”

“I’m honored to have the endorsement of NOW/PAC,” said Sinema. “I’m running for Congress because middle class and working families are struggling. Meanwhile, we have a Congress that would rather spend it’s time trying to dictate whether or not women can get access to birth control instead of actually rebuilding our nation. It’s time for Congress to change.”
