Phoenix, AZ – Today, Paul Bender announced his support of Kyrsten Sinema in her race for Congress. Bender is a professor of law and Dean Emeritus at Arizona State University. His career has focused on developing and enforcing constitutional and statutory protections for minorities, protecting rights of privacy and free expression, and trying to ensure fairness in our civil and criminal justice systems. He has served in the U.S. Justice Department as Principal Deputy Solicitor General of the United States, and has argued more than 20 cases in the U.S. Supreme Court.
“I have worked on a number of projects with Kyrsten and have greatly admired her intellect, energy and leadership ability,” said Bender. “I know that she is strongly committed to protecting and furthering the interests of the ninety-nine percent of us who have not had effective representation in Congress in recent years. She will be an outstanding and, I am sure, an influential member of Congress.”
“I’m humbled to have the support of Professor Bender,” said Sinema. “His leadership in the legal community has cultivated new generations of civically engaged community leaders. Paul’s contributions have made Arizona State University an academic and economic cornerstone in our congressional district and in our state.”
