SINEMA SIGNS PLEDGE TO PROTECT SOCIAL SECURITY AND MEDICARE AT FRIENDSHIP VILLAGE

September 28th, 2012

Tempe, AZ – Today, during her campaign tour of CD9 communities, Kyrsten Sinema visited Friendship Village — a seniors community in Tempe. She was presented with a pledge document to “protect Social Security and Medicare” by a member of a retirees group affiliated with the Alliance of Retired Americans. The document read:

I pledge to the people of Arizona’s Ninth Congressional District and to all Americans, that I will work to preserve and protect America’s promise to our seniors.

I will oppose any efforts to privatize Social Security and Medicare.

I will oppose any efforts to replace our guarantee to seniors with experimental vouchers.

I will honor the contract made to our retirees who have worked their entire lives to pay into their guarantee.

Sinema signed the pledge “to strengthen Social Security and Medicare as the cornerstones of economic security for Arizona seniors”.
