TEA PARTY’S VERNON PARKER OPPOSES UN SANCTIONS AGAINST IRAN

October 18th, 2012

Phoenix, AZ — Tea Party candidate Vernon Parker opposes the U.N. Security Council’s sanctions against Iran, the middle eastern country ruled by a theocratic elite which has spent years trying to acquire nuclear weapons, in violation of its obligations under the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty.

Parker proudly exclaimed his opposition to all U.N. programs at a Mesa, Arizona candidate forum in LD26, on July 10, 2012. Asked about the United Nations, Parker proclaimed, “I oppose everything they do — I’m very serious about that.”

In June, 2012, the U.N. Security Council launched a fourth round of sanctions against Iran, for refusing to halt its nuclear enrichment program. The sanctions have been called “devastating” by the independent Centre for Research on Globalization.

“Sensible Americans support sanctions against Iran, because sensible people do not want to see Ayatollah Khamenei get his hands on nuclear weapons. But Vernon Parker is too blinded by his Tea Party friends to support those sanctions,” said Rodd McLeod, campaign manager for Kyrsten Sinema. “The Iranian government’s nefarious nuclear enrichment program must be stopped, and that’s why we need a Congress that is serious about stopping it. Vernon Parker says he is very serious about opposing the U.N. and its sanctions. Parker needs to stop clowning around with our national security.”
