THREE DAYS LATER, PARKER STILL SILENT ON DEBATE CHALLENGE
Phoenix, AZ – On Tuesday, September 18th, Kyrsten Sinema’s campaign hand-delivered a letter to Vernon Parker’s campaign headquarters challenging him to a debate on education priorities. Three days later, Sinema has still heard no response from Parker. To date, there have been no public debates between Parker and Sinema — on any issue.
According to a study by the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities conducted earlier this month, Arizona has made the deepest cuts to local schools of any state in the country. The study further explains how deep cuts have extended the recession and slowed our economic recovery. [CBPP, Sep 4, 2012]
“While the people of Arizona’s ninth district are looking for answers, Vernon Parker is hiding up in Paradise Valley, instead of sitting down with Kyrsten Sinema to debate the issues that face our country,” said Rodd McLeod, campaign manager. “If he thinks he can hide his views from the people and let Washington smear ads do his dirty work, he is going to be very surprised come November.”
Sinema’s campaign has agreed to debates with several news outlets.
