Former Vice President Joe Biden today endorsed Kyrsten Sinema in her campaign for U.S. Senate. Biden hailed Sinema for her success working past party labels to get things done for Arizona families. In particular, the former Vice President praised Sinema for her work to expand protections for women and families across Arizona by helping to reauthorize the Violence Against Women Act—a landmark law that Biden originally authored as a U.S. Senator.

Kyrsten Sinema has always been a passionate advocate for women and families. Her long track record of advocacy began in high school when she volunteered as a rape crisis counselor. After college, she was a crisis counselor at a domestic violence shelter. Kyrsten turned her passion for advocacy into a career, becoming a social worker to help Arizonans through some of the challenges she faced growing up. Kyrsten worked with students and families in the largely immigrant and refugee community of Sunnyslope and in Phoenix public schools for a decade.

Her commitment to service led Kyrsten to the Arizona state legislature and to Congress. Through public service, Kyrsten could address the challenges she saw Arizona families face on a larger scale—by changing our laws and getting things done for everyday Arizonans.

In 2013, Kyrsten stood with Vice President Joe Biden and led bipartisan efforts to reauthorize and strengthen the Violence Against Women Act. This landmark reauthorization improved the criminal justice response to domestic violence and sexual abuse and helped survivors access the services they need to rebuild their lives. It also expanded protections for women in tribal communities, immigrants, and LGBT people.

Today, Kyrsten continues to be a champion for Arizona families. She recently worked across the aisle to pass the AMBER Alert in Indian Country Act, legislation that gives tribes the resources they need to utilize the AMBER Alert system to recover abducted Native American children.

Kyrsten Sinema’s campaign for Senate today announced the launch of its first TV ad of the cycle. The ad, titled “Paul,” features Kyrsten’s brother, a retired Marine and Tucson police officer. It highlights Kyrsten’s record as an independent voice for Arizona and her strong history of support for Arizona veterans and law enforcement. The ad begins airing April 9 and will be broadcast statewide.

PHOENIX — Today, Kyrsten Sinema’s campaign for Senate launched its first digital ads of the 2018 cycle. The two ads highlight Kyrsten’s independent voice and record of working across the aisle to get things done for Arizona. The ads, which spotlight Kyrsten’s personal story and determination to put country over party, will run statewide.

“Everyday people shouldn’t have to worry about what’s happening in Washington,” says Kyrsten Sinema in the ad ‘Work Together’. “There are a lot of people in Washington who are more interested in their talking points and their ideology than getting stuff done. It doesn’t have to be that way because we can work together, reach across the aisle, and get things done — that’s my job.”

“Paul” highlights Kyrsten’s record as one of the most independent members of Congress and her support for Arizona veterans and law enforcement. The ad features Kyrsten’s big brother, Paul, a Marine and local police officer in Tucson.

PHOENIX, ARIZ. – Kyrsten Sinema’s campaign for U.S. Senate in Arizona announced it raised more than $1.6 million in the fourth quarter of 2017, ending the year with more than $5.1 million on hand.

“It’s clear Arizonans want a leader with a proven record of working across the aisle to get things done,” said Andrew Piatt, Sinema for Arizona Campaign Manager. “Whether it’s cutting red tape for small businesses or getting veterans the care they deserve, Kyrsten Sinema has delivered for Arizonans. We’re grateful for the support we’ve received across the state.”

Since announcing her campaign at the end of September, Sinema has earned the support of End Citizens United, EMILY’s List, and the DSCC.
